THE DEPARTING LANDSCAPE - HUNG FAI INK PROJECT Grotto Fine Art takes great pleasure to present the second solo exhibition, The Departing Landscape – HUNG Fai Ink Project, by Hong Kong artist HUNG Fai. Reinterpreting Xie He (6th century)’s Six Principles of Chinese Painting (traditional Chinese painting principles), artist Hung Fai invited his father Hung Hoi, a traditional ink painter, to participate in this project. Hung created a conceptual framework and made two new series, The Six Principles of Chinese Painting: Transmission and The Six Principles of Chinese Painting: Correspondence to the Object, combining his diffusion technique and Xie’s principles. In Transmission, he investigated the relationship between tradition, authority and transmission of lineage in ink genre. In Correspondence to the Object, the possibilities of mental associations were shown through the game-like experiment in ink.
